Yet another reason not to fly Northwest:

    From the Washington Times:
Officials of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration have told Northwest Airlines security specialists that the agency is developing brain-monitoring devices in cooperation with a commercial firm, which it did not identify. Space technology would be adapted to receive and analyze brain-wave and heartbeat patterns, then feed that data into computerized programs "to detect passengers who potentially might pose a threat," according to briefing documents obtained by The Washington Times.

So you're afraid to fly eh? Elevated heart rate, visions of plane accidents and explosions? You just might be a terrorist...

Now if only my dad had zillions of frequent-flyer miles on some other airline...

In all fairness, Cheng is probably about to stay up all night controlling The Game. So sleep deprivation will probably be hitting him sooner or later.

In the meantime, it's been days since you've heard the exciting details of my life. Well, I worked. And worked. But the weekend's here, and I plan to spend it with friends and in A2, so there.

Work got to be like a ghost town by 4 PM yesterday... amazing: when the boss is out of the office, who wants to stay behind and work? By 2:30, people were already drifting out the door. By 5, I was the only one left. Coincidentally, I was the only one being paid by the hour... Boss-less Fridays are the best. Lunch hour grows to two hours, and involves prank calls... no more need be said really.

So... yeah. you're supposed to go "hey look at Cheng's photoshop skillz" yeah. Be distracted. Be very distracted.
So, I'm sorry. No comic today. I promise I'll make it up to y'all sometime.

This quoted from the Sinfest website:

Drawing comics, like anything in life, is all about trial and error. You try out your ideas, some work, others don't. Sometimes you hit a groove, sometimes you hit a wall. Sometimes people pat you on the back. Sometimes they bust your balls. Sometimes you play it safe. Other times you take a chance. Sometimes you go, "Damn, I'm a super genius." But most of the time you're like, "What the heck am I doing?" Sometimes you're ready to quit. Sometimes you feel like you've just begun. And sometimes, once in a long while, you get one of those epiphanies, them zen moments when it all comes together-- you understand your place in the universe, you are one with everything, the future's looking bright, and you're living in the now.
    -T.

yeah. I guess for me I'm still at the "What the heck and I doing!?" stage and am missing out on a lot of the great zen moments.

Yeah, so the guy with the camera is me.
This actually happened (of sorts) when we went meteor-shower watching.

Ahh... it's been a fun weekend. Parties Saturday and Sunday night. And even a little encounter with Novi Police...

So Sunday night around 11 we decide to go try and see the meteor shower. Around here the only places to go really are parks because there are lights everywhere else. So we drive over to one park, only to find it closed. We drag race down 8 Mile (my 12-year-old PoS against another 15-year-old PoS...) to another park in Novi. We get there and find no gate, no posted closing time, nothing. So we figure we're OK.

We start wandering around looking for a place to sit and we find these benches. Thweny (for any Michiganders who might know him) gets frustrated that they don't face the northeast and kicks one a few times. But we settle down to watch the stars. Eventually he needs to get something from his car.

Suddenly this cop car pulls up and puts a spotlight on him. He starts walking toward the cop car only to have the police tell him over the speakers not to approach it, so he goes back to his car instead and starts reaching under the seat for his license. At this the cop calls for backup. He waves his hands up in the air to show he's just got his wallet, and the cops start interrogating him. They run his license and the plates of all our cars, looking inside each but somehow not noticing the nightvision goggles, binoculars, or digicam he has in his back seat.

Finally the officers approach the rest of us and tell us they had a report that someone heard some banging and wanted to check to make sure we hadn't been vandalizing the pavilion. It didn't dawn on us then what this noise really was (the bench). But finding we hadn't destroyed any property, they then informed us that the park closed at midnight, despite the lack of any signs to tell us this. The Man also suggested we try watching the showers from a shopping mall parking lot. Since it's not like there are any lights in there...

I think before the cops' floodlight ruined our darkness we saw maybe three or four shooting stars. Then I had to go to bed for work in the morning.

Sunday's revelation: Cops don't get to watch shooting stars while they're on patrol, so they think no one else should be allowed to either.
Today's revelation: A Michigan roll is made of avocado and tuna apparently... mmm... Michigan...

No meteor shower pictures. It was clouded over and even though we biked up to the golf course (and as far from the city lights as possible) there was no way.
    Oh well. Worth a shot.

    So I promised to rant...

    Well here's the news:

Friday, I "won" the weekly office raffle and am now the "proud" owner of a big-a$$ orchid. Which is cool.
Saturday, I spent up in the City (that's SF and not NYC or LA or whatever) for a friends birthday. That was cool
Sunday, I bummed around. Not cool.
Tonight, there's a hopefully a$$-kicking meteor shower at some really late time so I'm going to be up all night watching it. Which is way cool. I'll get new batteries for my digital camera and maybe even post up some pictures tomorrow.
Last thing: Name the orchid. I've been informed that I ought to have a name for my plants so that I can cry out its name in agony when it dies. So use the shout out thing above to suggest names for the Orchid.
Ok, lunch over, back to lab.

    Where is everyone?
Oh well, about the comic, yeah. I do sleep afternoons during the school year. And then stay up late. I must have caused Mike a lot of trouble since he would walk in and I'd be asleep. Oh well. I'm going to sleep now.
I promise to rant from work tomorrow.
