    That says it all. I'll update next when I get back to Arkansas. In the meantime, I'm not going to waste any more minutes doing this when I could be spending it talking to, hugging, and kissing Becky (and packing, of course). :)

    Dang. Where is everyone?

    Before I get Mike in trouble at work or something. I have to say that this comic is utterly and totally untrue. Mike can tell you the rest.

    Speaking of rest... I should go to bed...

    That is so messed up. I mean who needs a car to go 2 miles... just bike. I think I might switch to the come in late go home early schedule. I'm on "salary" so I really could get away with not coming in at all if it weren't for my boss. As for free food, its why I love it here. Bagels 3 days a week, free lunches at least twice a month and free "dinner" (well kinda) on fridays. How cool is that? Not to mention the infinite supply of Ramen and Oatmeal and Coffee.

    So my "four year" plan is done. Actually its 3 years and then I need to stop and think about my Coterm. As for classes next quarter I really really want to do Social dance II. But I already have 7 ChemE classes (including a lab) and my tuesdays are going to go from 8:30-9PM straight pretty much. But I really want to do it and since it is only S/NC... oh the dilemma.

    In other news, I got this chess set yesterday which is all glass and pretty cool except the pieces are really ulgy-shaped.. although the fact that they are glass makes up for it some. I'll post a photo soon. And I won the first game I played on it. That was cool.

    Ok... Lunch now. Unfortunately not free today but whatever.

    And for anyone who is seeing this and at Stanford and STILL doesn't know. The time schedule is up on axess.

    Speaking of people gone AWOL... you just can't get rid of me. Just when you think I've found better things to do then update the blog, I come back...

    This week is pretty sucky because I've been working 11-hour days. Why you ask? Because I'm a pawn, a pawn of this company and a pawn of capitalism (whee, overtime pay!). Actually the little brother just started his senior year of high school Monday, which he's just overjoyed about. So Car #1 goes to Flint with Dad, Car #2 stays with Mom, and Car #3 comes with me to work. Someone needs to take Mr. I'm So Much Cooler Than The School Bus to school then...

    Rant

    Here in Michigan and especially in Novi, most everyone's daddy or mommy works for GM or Ford and so lots of kids get these really nice new cars to drive two miles down the road to school. (Which I've walked, by the way; it's not that far...) The really cool ones (somehow the ones that end up being elected to homecoming court each year) get sports cars and convertibles they can drive with the top down for about two months a year. Our Car #3 is a 12-year-old PoS, but it runs and has gotten me to work every day this summer...

    By little brother's logic, he should get Car 3 so he can drive the aforementioned two miles to school (a five-minute trip, if that) along with hundreds of other kids and a bunch of his friends that live in a one-mile radius and avoid taking the bus that stops 200 yards from our house every morning. It could sit in the parking lot idle for seven hours and then he'd drive it back home. Mom should have to drive me ten miles to work during rush hour meanwhile, leaving me with no means of getting lunch or running the myriad errands I do on my lunch hour. Then she should guess what time I can leave and drive back during rush hour to pick me up, so she can spend a total of one hour driving me back and forth.

    Is it just me or is that messed up? So the compromise: I get to get up at 6 AM too and drive him to school, by which point I might as well just go to work... and somehow this idea of coming in early, leaving early hasn't worked out...

    End Rant

    Though the boss did buy me lunch yesterday... (mmm... Thai food...) I will tell you this though: I am not coming into work on Labor Day. Hell no...

    Also I can't con anyone into coming to swing lessons with me.

    In other zozonews, I'm starting to think I should be figuring out my four-year plan... there's a good chance I'll be taking CS248 (with its famous Three Weeks of Hell) in the fall with some good friends, which should be fun. And I gotta do Social 2--I'm going through dancing withdrawal here (not to mention completely forgetting how to dance...)

    No prob, bro. Actually, to be fully honest, it was mostly done by Sunday. The comic was delayed because I wanted a birthday comic but it wasn't your birthday until today (thus I was delayed on a technicality). I'm glad you like it. Although comparing me to the young Darth Vadar doesn't bode well. At all.

    As about visiting each other, you will be doing most of the visiting of us. I know. Because you have a car and although Manzanita is not far, its sufficient to make bike-based visits rare. Anyway, I hope to see you before you head off to Arkansas and Italy.

    Work calls. Loudly.

    <thanks, cheng id="supes" title="qui-gon would be proud">

    Life can be nothing but joy when you have friends like Cheng.

    As you have probably guessed by now, it is my fault that the comic was delayed yesterday....not just because Cheng was working on one for today but also because he spent the entire weekend working on my birthday present, my own personal, giant comic -- featuring the lovely Becky Neil and yours truly, with a guest appearance by Spider-man, who, if I am reading the story correctly, is none other than me (which is news to me, believe you me!). I always knew I had it in me.

    So there. You can forgive Cheng for the comic delay and his absence from the newsposts over the weekend. He was working his butt off on my present, which he promises to color and frame for me at some point -- haven't you done enough already, Chengwang?

    If there is one thing we can all learn from this guy, it's about giving. Cheng gives and gives and gives. As Qui-Gon says of Anakin in Episode One, I will say too of Cheng: "He gives with no thought of reward." He just gives out of the sheer joy of giving and out of the goodness of his generous heart, simply because he cares.

    It sure will be weird not having him around as a neighbor next year. We had some great times together, Cheng, me, Mike, and Busayo. But they'll come visit us, and we'll go visit them and hang out a lot and such. And Cheng, we'll always be neighbors in spirit....and in bits, bytes, and pixels, too!

    Thanks again, buddy. To quote a beer commercial from some time ago, "I love you, man."

    </thanks, cheng>

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE!!!
    Yeah so Dave didn't want a big party but since he IS turning 21, we are going to celebrate virtually...
    Everyone who reads this please please send him an e-mail. His e-mail is:
    davekale(at)stanford(dot)edu
    I would make it clickable but it would be really mean if a web crawler found this and he started getting spam cus of me.

    In other news, I spent the weekend at the Palo Alto Arts Festival... where these artists were seling their wares. But it was so FRICKING expensive. This guy was selling a doodle ripped out of a sketchbook for $600+. It was ridiculous. If anyone wants me to draw something for $600 I'll do it gladly. I'll even draw you a whole sketchbook full of stuff. In all 25 pages of doodles for $600! What a deal!! Sign up quickly, they are selling fast!

    Anyway, yeah. I'm going to bed. Have a great day everyone. I'll put up a new comic tomorrow too! (aren't you lucky today?)]

    No, dave. I'm good. Its just that I've had technical difficulties of sorts getting the strip up on time. I promised one for tomorrow. (Read the newsbox at the top.)
    But it's good to know that someone actually noticed. Wow, I actually have ppl read this thing.

    <rant id="supes" title="the case of the mysterious disappearing cheng">

    Cheng's pretty reliable so if he hasn't put up a comic or even gotten around to apologizing for not putting one up, he must have a good reason so we'll all forgive him. It's not for lack of ideas, either, since he informed me the other day he has a backlog of "striplines" (my new word for the day, meaning "strip storyline"). So he's just busy (and probably not sleeping). I certainly am not going to say anything, since -- as I informed you all a few posts ago -- I myself am quite useless. However, Cheng's absence is out-of-character enough to make one worry so perhaps I will have to go check on him when I get off work today.

    So we're onto the final stretch, the last week of my "summer life." My internship ends wednesday, then I pack up my stuff into storage and head home for a few weeks (which doesn't count as "life" so much as "vacation," I guess), then come back and start school again. I'll give you my thoughts on all of this later so I'm not wasting time writing this when I really ought to be finishing up at work so that my projects are actually completed when I finish up on Wednesday. For now, au revoir.
